Additionally, Botala’s consortium recently secured a Botswana Power Corporation tender to develop a 4MW solar project in Serowe, advancing its renewable energy portfolio. The solar installation will integrate with Botala’s planned 20MW hybrid gas-solar setup, further reinforcing its commitment to sustainable energy solutions. In a community-oriented move, Botala has pledged to reinvest one percent of the solar project’s revenue into local development programs, focusing on job creation and sustainability in Serowe.

The company also announced successful gas quality tests at the Serowe CBM Project, revealing high methane purity levels of up to 94 percent. This purity enhances the project’s commercial viability, with low levels of impurities ensuring operational efficiency and a promising outlook for cost-effective gas production.

Further solidifying its foothold, Botala received environmental approval to develop the Leupane Energy Hub and Industrial Park near Palapye. This 1,520-hectare site is set to house a 500MW solar plant and a 200MW gas-fired facility, positioning Leupane as a regional power supplier. Initial development will focus on a 250MW solar project in collaboration with AAAS Energy BV, marking a major step in Botswana’s renewable energy landscape.

Botala completed feasibility studies for its wellfield development in Serowe, confirming strong commercial potential. The study details a five-well pilot capable of producing up to 10MW of electricity, with further downstream options like gas liquefaction and hybrid power generation under review.
