Botswana Couriers and Logistics MD bows out

Botswana Couriers and Logistics Board of Directors Chairperson Rutang Moses has confirmed the resignation of the company’s Managing Director (MD) Leatile Medupe.

Moses said Medupe announced his decision not to renew his employment contract with Botswana Couriers and Logistics which ended on 30th June 2016.

“Medupe’s contract of employment ended on the 30th June 2016 and he has decided not to renew it,” said Moses.

Quizzed on whether Medupe’s decision to leave the company was due to pressure from the company, Moses stated that the Board of Directors accepted and respected his decision. Medupe led the company since May 2009 and will be remembered for leading the company through the formative three year strategy that came to an end in April 2016. He was expected to continue contributing to the development of the next three year strategy which focuses on business growth.

Asked whether the company has a succession plan in place, Moses said Botswana Couriers and Logistics has a succession plan in place adding that the Board of Directors has appointed Peter Meswele as acting Managing Director with immediate effect and has begun the process of identifying the substantive Managing Director.

“Medupe has led the company through the formative three year strategy that came to an end in April 2016 and the development of the next three year (2016-2019) strategy which focuses on business growth,” she stated.

Moses believes that the outgoing MD has made an impact on Botswana Couriers and Logistics, including on its stakeholders and expressed gratitude for his vision and leadership.
