The Minister of Finance and Development (MFDP), Baledzi Gaolathe, has left today for Maseru, Lesotho, where he is scheduled to attend a two-day meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Southern Africa Customs Union due to take off tomorrow 3rd April, 2009.
Central to the agenda for discussion will be a number of recommendations presented before the Council by its secretariat for approval of some of the reports they have compiled.
Included in the list of specified reports are those on options for dealing with Adjustments to Revenue Forecast, the draft Memorandum of Understanding on the Management of the Common Revenue Pool and Progress Reports on SACU Trade negotiations and World Trade Organization (WTO) factual Review of SACU.
Also set for consideration is the issue of the proposal for the implementation of the SACU Centenary commemoration in 2010.
Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Ponatshego Kedikilwe, will be the acting Finance Minister during Gaolathe’s absence.
