Botswana needs Dumelang Saleshando’s voice much more than ever before

On the morning of his 50th birthday, a few years ago, the leader of the opposition Botswana Congress Party, Dumelang Saleshando walked into my office.

It was not a pre-planned meeting that he had come to see me.

Apparently my name had made it to a list of people he was determined to show on his big day that he was not as bad as some in the list had made him out to be.

If that was a psychological game, then it worked. I was touched by his rare show of magnanimity.
