Botswana Tourism Board (BTB) will participate at Pure Life Experiences, a highly specialised travel trade gathering based purely on experiential travel.
The event takes place in Marrakech, Morocco from 16-19 November 2009 and it will take part at World Travel Market (WTM) in the United Kingdom, it said on Friday.
Keitumetse Setlang, Public Relations and Communications Manager at the Tourism Board, said Pure Life Experiences is open only to companies in lodges, retreats and unique hotels, discovery journeys, wilderness experiences, soft and extreme adventures, cultural escapes, events and festivals.
“However, Botswana Tourism Board is the only Tourist Board granted access to the fair largely owing to the fact that the Botswana Tourism travel model is based on experiences, thus giving the traveller a unique individual experience,” she said.
Setlang added that participation at the fair will help Botswana position herself through this new platform as well as boost the profile of the six Botswana Companies exhibiting.
These companies are Abercrombie & Kent, Abu Camp, & Beyond, Okavango Horse Safaris, Orient Express & Wilderness Safaris.
PURE Life Experiences is a new revolution in the landscape of travel exhibitions. It is the world’s only specialist trade to trade exhibition for the exploding Experiential Travel sector where only the finest, purest and most inspirational Experiential Travel operators will be allowed to participate.
Through a pre-scheduled meetings system, they will meet with leading international Private Travel Designers, hosted from all over the world.
Representing Botswana Tourism Board at the fair will be Obenne Mbaakanyi, Marketing Executive ÔÇô Local & Regional Markets and Malebogo Morakaladi, Business Development Manager.
Meanwhile, the board will also take part in the World Travel Market (WTM) travel trade show in the United Kingdom from 9-12 November 2009.
Considered the premier travel event, WTM is a vibrant must attend four-day business to business event presenting a diverse range of destinations and industry sectors to UK and International travel professionals. It is a unique opportunity for the whole global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business under one roof. This year, Botswana Tourism Board will be participating at the fair with 26 local operators on the Botswana stand, an improvement of 4 operators from the 2008 WTM.
Soon after WTM, Botswana Tourism Board will embark on a road show covering the Scandinavian countries of Sweden, Norway, Finland, Switzerland Denmark and Belgium. The road show is a partnership between the Botswana Embassy in Sweden and Botswana Tourism Board and is intended to further stimulate and grow the Botswana tourism market in these Scandinavian countries.
Joining BTB on this road show are the following companies, which are also participating at WTM 09: Karibu Safaris, Footprints Africa Safaris, Muchenje Safari Lodge, Afro Trek Safaris, Desert & Delta Safaris, A T & T Travel and Mapula Lodge.
The Botswana team will make presentations to Botswana Embassy staff in these countries as well as tour operators. The presentations will be designed in a way that depicts how best to sell and represent the country.
