“Gasiko le Moritshane” ÔÇô Natural Form
The above is the title of an exhibition of paintings by Margaret Taylor that will open at Botswanacraft on Thursday 30th July 2009 at 6pm.
Margaret Taylor was born in Hampshire, England and came to Botswana in 1965, working with the then called VSO.
Her first job in Botswana was as a teacher aid at Gaborone Secondary School.
She has been passionate about art most of her life. Initially, she only did small size drawings. After having come in contact with Botswana resident artist, Ann Gollifer, in 2002, she dared to go bigger.
In 2006, Steve Jobson at the Art Department at Maru A Pula School, gave her an interest to paint with oil.
This exhibition shows about 25 paintings, mainly oil on canvas and on board but also a few pastels. The subjects of the paintings are trees and their “close” natural surroundings. The works are a selection of what has been produced during the last 3 years.
The exhibition will be on from Thursday 30th July until Wednesday 5th August 2009 and Margaret will be present at Botswanacraft for the duration of the exhibition.
