Botswana’s diamonds go-direct: ODC to test new sales route

Botswana is taking its diamonds into uncharted territory. The state-owned Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) will next month sell stones directly to contracted buyers, a move that breaks with decades of tradition and signals a bold new approach to marketing the country’s prized gems. ODC Managing Director Mmetla Masire said the company will launch two pilot sales in November before going full scale.
