Weeping relatives and fans gathered around the coffin of Rasego Maseki over the weekend at his home village of Mmadinare, mourning the fighter who was stabbed to death.
According to Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA), the young lad who had a promising career met his fate in Gaborone West Phase 1. BoBA Public Relations Officer, Taolo Tlouetsile said Maseki was signed to DTCB boxing club after being spotted in the BISA games in 2013. He played in the 60kg category both in BISA and DTCB.
“It is always sad when a talented young person’s life is taken because the nation would be expecting to reap something from them in the future,” Tlouetsile said.
Last year the boxing family lost Herbert Nkabiti who was also a great success to the association. Tlouetsile noted that although Maseki did not play full time at BoBA, he was an active member and was yet to reach greater heights.
In addition, he noted that on behalf of BoBA President and the executive committee he conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and their affiliated boxing club DTCB. “May the great Lord comfort his family and the boxing family,” he said.
