BR Highlanders reportedly sack Moyo

Information reaching Sunday Standard is that Mahalapye side, BR highlanders have parted ways with their coach, Paul Moyo.

Renowned as ‘Barena’ Moyo is reported to have been sacked following a string of poor results by team.

Before the weekend matches Highlanders were rooted at the bottom of the league and this has reportedly caused great unhappiness with the team’s management.

Moyo took highlanders from the First Division after defeating Security Systems in the promotional playoffs.

The reported sacking of Moyo follows that of other coaches who were also sacked for a string of poor results.

Some of the sacked coaches are Thaloba ‘Machine’ of Letlapeng and Innocent Morapedi of Notwane.
The sacking axe is also reportedly lying over the head of BDF XI coach. Elijah Chikwanda because his bosses are reportedly not happy at the performance of the team compared to last season.

After helping the team get promotion to the Premier League with little resources with no big names at his disposal, it was expected he would help build a team for the future. Efforts to contact both Moyo and the management of Highlanders were futile at time of going to press.
Moyo has coached many teams in Botswana and some of his former players are also currently coaching.

It was at Notwane in the mid and late 1990s where he made his name. Notwane were untouchable and won many local honours and even made an impact in the African competitions.
