A farmer in the Mahalapye District, Godiraone Mathiba, has dragged the Botswana Railways to the Lobatse High Court for failing to repair a borehole that the state-owned enterprise not only “vandalised” but had itself leased to another farmer upon belief that it (not Mathiba) owns the borehole. Each side provides conflicting accounts of the origins and ownership of Borehole No. Z8594, which is located in Lose, a farming hamlet some 20 kilometres north of Mahalapye through which the railway line passes.
