BR Properties revamps corporate identity

BR Properties, a subsidiary wholly owned by Botswana Railways, says it has reviewed its corporate identity so that it remains relevant to its mandate, strategy and market. The property company on Monday said it was established to exploit and harness the potential of Botswana Railways’ large real estate portfolio along commercial lines as well as to efficiently manage the operational property portfolio.

BR Properties Board chairperson Lesedi Moakofhi revealed that the company started off with a five year conceptual business plan which elapsed in 2012. The lapse prompted management to review its plan and come up with a three year organizational strategy that was formulated and adopted in 2013. Moakofhi said the new strategy will focus on asset optimization through a service offering which provides unquestionable value and is tailor made to the specific requirements of the customer whilst remaining profitable to the business.

“BR Properties’ intends to commercially manage clients’ property portfolio in order to create long-term sustainable value through asset optimism,” said Moakofhi.

She added that so far BR Properties has made progress by developing Rail Park Mall and other BR operational facilities, which were all possible through the commitment and focus of the team. Moakofhi pointed out that it has become imperative for the company to live its vision, reorganize and position itself as well as diversify its client base.

“This was partly due to slack financial performance in the formative years of the company. Having reviewed our business strategy, business model, corporate identity processes and organizational design at BR Properties, it now allows us to look beyond Botswana Railways to unlock real value,” said Moakofhi.

BR Properties Managing Director Oabile Zhikwa highlighted that the company is a wholly owned subsidiary company under Botswana Railways. She said since incorporation BR Properties have developed several properties for leasing and renting to individuals and companies. She explained that the main illustration is in the shape of a key which symbolizes ownership of property. She said it depicts that BR Properties endeavors to assist their clients to unlock the true value and potential of their property.

“We decided to do a new logo as we experienced challenges while using the previous logo since it was not easily reproduced on some of the corporate promotional items,” she stated.
