Cabinet minister in rape allegations

Police are said to be trying to cover up a case of rape that involves a cabinet minister.

It is alleged that a prominent cabinet minister is in the centre of police investigations following rape allegations emanating from an official trip that involved the minister, the District Commissioner and other government officials.

It is alleged that after a long working day, the officials went to a hotel and, a few hours later, the minister went to the DC’s room where he tried to force himself resulting in the hotel room’s door handle breaking.

It is further alleged that the minister went to apologise after realizing the seriousness of his escapade.

However, the DC is reported to have gone and reported the matter to the police.
Detective Assistant Superintendent Joseph Balisi told Sunday Standard that he was “not aware of such a case”.
