Cellphone goes missing during ‘lessons about life’

A 39-year old kombi driver, who is from Burundi, this week pleaded not guilty to charges of theft common after he was arrested on October 10, 2006, for stealing a Nokia cellphone worth P549 at Maruapula.

According to the State Prosecutor from Urban Police Station, Constable Happy Six, the court heard that Emmanuel Mutabazi went into Marea Kgetse’s yard to buy beers. During the transaction, Mutabazi claimed to talk to her about life. After a long discussion, Mutabazi went inside Kgetse’s house and stole her phone.

Kgosi Monametsi told the court that since Mutabazi pleaded not guilty, the police had to look for more witnesses to give evidence in the case.
The case continues next week.
