Trouble appears to be brewing at Kgatleng side, Mochudi Centre Chiefs. The club is currently engulfed in tug of war with players over late and non payments of salaries.
Other players have since left the club citing financial issues at the club. As if that is not enough, there seem to be more problems regarding ownership of the team.
Mochudi Centre Chiefs is currently registered as a society but is on verge of being a company because already a renowned multimillionaire has been brought in to help steer it to privatisation.
Already, there is a company that goes by the name of Mochudi Centre Chiefs LIMITED-CO.199/4997. The company was long registered in 1999 and the company directors have a long association with Mochudi Centre Chiefs. However, it appears they do not have a say or impact on the team.
Recently another company that goes by the name of Mochudi Centre Chiefs (PTY) LTD-CO.2014/5627 was registered again but later on the register of companies cancelled it saying it was an error. Sunday Standard is a possession of a letter from the register of companies which formally informs Mochudi Centre Chiefs (PTY) LTD that their initial application and issuance of certificate of incorporation was a mistake.
“It has come to the attention of the office of Registrar of Companies that upon registration and issuing of the certificate of incorporation for the above mentioned entities, there were some discrepancies relating to the duplication of names. The Companies and Business Names Act does not allow for allocation of similar or identical names to two or more companies/businesses (Section32 (3) (b) and (C),” reads the letter in part.
A source close to the matter told Sunday Standard that the mix-up at the register of companies is all due to the battle to control Mochudi Centre Chiefs. The source added that there is something fishy about the whole thing.
“To start with how would two companies bearing same names be not recognized from the onset and for that matter being for Mochudi Centre Chiefs? This is a result of some greedy people out there who want to control the team even if they use dirty means. These people are well aware that already there is a company registered under Mochudi Centre Chiefs. Some people out there want to have shares in the team without parting with a single cent,” the source said.
Efforts to get hold of Mochudi Centre Chiefs spokesperson, Clifford Mogomotsi, proved futile at time of going to press.
