The publisher of Paparazzi News, Daniel Kenosi, sighed with relief on Friday when Village Principal Magistrate Goodwill Makofi granted him conditional bail pending his next appearance in Court.┬á The conditions of Kenosi’s bail are that he should enter onto his own recognizance in the sum of P500, provide one surety to bind himself in like sum, report on Wednesdays at CID Headquarters between 0730hours to 1630hours and surrender his travel documents. He was also ordered to appear on May 15 for mention and status update of his case. Kenosi has been charged with unlawful distribution of obscene material contrary to Section 16(2) (a) of Cybercrime and Related Crimes Act Cap 08:06.┬á Kenosi has been in jail since March 24.
Village Chief Magistrate Linah Mokibe-Oahile crushed his hopes to gain early freedom when she refused to grant him bail on April 2, sending him back to spend Easter Holidays behind bars. This time around however, the State didn’t oppose to Kenosi’s bail application which was quickly granted by Principal Magistrate Makofi who presided over the matter this time around.
