Mining production decreased by 25.7 percent in the first quarter of 2024, with only soda ash and salt posting increases in production, with the rest of mined resources reflecting contracted output.
Statistics Botswana revealed that the main contributor to the decrease in mining production was diamonds and copper.
Diamond production plunged by 27.4 percent in the first quarter of the year from the same period in 2023.
