In a bid to branch out and expand its business across Sub-Sahara Africa, global engineering firm, Fluor Corporation, has opened an office in Gaborone. Botswana Chamber of Mines Chief Executive Officer Charles Siwawa, was present at the official opening alongside dignitaries and business leaders.
Speaking at the official opening, President of Fluor’s Mining and Metals Group, Rick Koumouris said the Gaborone office will serve as an excellent company’s operations base. “We are looking forward to strengthening our ability to serve clients, both existing and new, in this developing region as well as supporting Botswana’s goal to boost local business and employment diversification,” said Koumouris.
Since early 2000S, Fluor Corporation has been operational in Botswana and has established a sustainable client base in the country, providing technical services at the Orapa Diamond Mine, successful completion of the Jwaneng Cut 8 and Morupule Coal Mine expansion projects.
Fluor Botswana manager Andries Bester said opening of the new office will allow the corporation to offer integrated solutions to clients in various sectors including mining, energy, chemicals, power and infrastructure.
“We strongly believe that having a permanent project execution presence in the country will provide more opportunities in employment of local citizens and for supplier and skills development,” he added.
