Foreign owned oil firms are right to feel aggrieved and slighted, BUT..…

It is never easy to convince people on the wisdom and utility of citizen economic empowerment when such people are themselves beneficiaries of exclusion.

And by citizen economic empowerment, we are talking about genuine empowerment. Not empowerment of the already empowered.

For years, this newspaper has been calling for a viable citizen economic empowerment by the foreign owned oil firms doing business in Botswana.

These firms include Shell, Total Energies, Engen, Puma and Caltex. At one point the list included BP.
