In order to spearhead preparations for sporting competitions for the upcoming four years, the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) recently launched the 3rd Games Standing Committee to address this initiative.
The new committee, which was launched on Tuesday, will organise and make preparations for local, regional and continental games for the next four years.
The new committee will be assigned to head preparations for about 5 major sporting events amongst them the 4th Supreme Council For Sport in Africa Zone VI Under 20 Youth Games, which are to be held in Swaziland on the 9th to the 20th of December this year.
The second event assigned to the committee is the 10th All Africa Games that are to be held in Mozambique on the 3rd to the 18th of September 2011 and the 3rd Botswana Games to be held in Gaborone on the 11th to the 18th of December 2011.
Added to the list is the 5th Supreme Council of Sport in Africa Zone VI Under 20 youth Games to be held in Zambia. Lastly, the committee is also expected to look at the 4th Botswana Games, which are to be held in 2013. According to Modiri Ontitile, Marketing and Communications Officer of the BNSC, Games Standing Committee has been divided into six Sub Committees to provide advice and assistance in planning, organisation and staging of the games.
The Sub-committees are divided into the Finance, Marketing and Protocol, Technical, Accreditation, Logistics and Medical committees. The Standing committee consists of Chairperson, Tsiane Boitshoko, as well as vice chairperson, Kagiso Kemoeng.
Ntesang Tebogo will serve as the General Manager while Mission Mereyotlhe takes the position of Technical Chairperson. The Logistics Chairperson seat went to Johnson Themba while Modipe Nkwe becomes the Marketing and Protocol Chairperson.
Gabriel Ngele is the committee’s finance chairperson and France Mabiletsa is the accreditation chairperson.
