GCC will reinstate interdicted employees-lawyer

Gaborone City Council will reinstate all its former employees who were interdicted during Daisy Loo investigations and trial which took over five years.

This was said by the GCC attorney Sono Seisa. “ The officers will of course be reinstated once they have reapplied to us in accordance with the law of the country as the Courts have ruled that they are not guilty of any offence”, he said.

Besides that he said that they will be paid all the money that they will be reimbursed of all the money that was deducted from their salaries whilst they were on trial.

Seisa was however not able to say whether the involved officers have since reapplied and referred questions on the matter to GCC Human Resources officers who also declined to comment and instead referred this publication to Public Relations Officer Seeletso Lekgaba. At the time of going to press Lekgaba was not available for comment.

The former GCC employees are Sadi Abbey , Frank Stegling and Gilbert Sithole charges against them were that they have together with Daisy Loo and its Managing Director Moemedi Dijeng rigged a GCC tender to favour Daisy Loo.

Marathon Daisy Loo trial ended four months ago after Gaborone High Court judge Singh Walia ruled that “ there was no attempt to receive by false pretences as work done was authorized by GCC and was performed to its satisfaction . As a result all convictions are quashed and sentences set aside”. As a result of the judgment Daisy Loo was paid P36m.
