Botswana is facing one of its worst job crises in recent years, with new data revealing that more than 20,000 graduates joined the ranks of the unemployed in just one year, while overall employment levels have also taken a sharp dip.
According to the latest Priority Skills Report, released by the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC), graduate unemployment jumped from 59,000 in 2023 to 70,000 in 2024 – an alarming 18.5% increase.
