The High Court has granted four opposition Members of Parliament a 30-day extension to file outstanding election expense returns with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). The decision temporarily resolves a legal challenge that had cast doubt on their eligibility to sit and vote in Parliament.
The order, delivered on Friday, gives Kgatleng East MP Mabuse Mopati Pule, Moshupa-Manyana MP Karabo Socraat Gare, Gabane-Mankgodi MP Kagiso Thomas Mmusi and Thamaga-Kumakwane MP Palelo Keitseope Motaosane until late August to comply with Section 87 of the Electoral Act.
