Sex workers filled the court room.
Thirteen sex workers, ranging in ages from 20 to 36, were this Friday arraigned before the Urban Customary Court President, Kgosi Dikwalo Monametsi, to answer to charges of idling and disorderly conduct.
The women are Natsai Phiri, Sithabile Ndlovu, Matildah Cheremupa, Monalister Mapfumo, Roseline Makoni, Future Kwesu, Linnah Munodawafa, Stella Mutenga, Fasebi Ndondo and Feima Gupela all from Zimbabwe. The three Batswana are Kesego Moiphemedi, Tiny Molefe and Dineo Olobile.
According to the Prosecutor from Central Police Station, Constable Keorapetse, the court heard that all accused were arrested during the night of October 18, 2006, at Middle Star Complex while touting for male customers.
They all pleaded guilty to the charges and asked the court to show mercy because they were first offenders. The women promised the court that they would stop waiting for male customers next to the road at Middle Star Shopping Complex at Partial during the night.
Kgosi Monametsi warned them and then discharged them.
