Hundreds of Limkokwing students graduate

About 730 students celebrated their graduation from Limkokwing University of creative technology with Associate and Honors degrees last week.
The students were drawn from the faculty of architecture and interior design, faculty of business and globalization, faculty of creative media, faculty of creativity in tourism and hospitality, faculty of design and innovation, faculty of information technology and the faculty of communication, media and broadcasting.
The sixth annual ceremony was held at the college main campus in Gaborone. The 2013 class was unique in the University history with graduates from India, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
The students were described as future ready creative professionals well trained to provide the most creative, innovative and best tech savvy solutions to Africa’s industry, societies and governments
Speaking at the graduation ceremony on Thursday, the Minister of Youth Development Sport and Culture, Shaw Kgathi, said the ceremony is a symbol of confidence that the graduates are now equipped for the world into which they are entering.
Kgathi said now that the graduates have gone over the hurdles they must be focused on the next phase of life where they have to prove their worth as mature, skill full individuals ready to take up the challenges of the 21st century.
He encouraged them to contribute to strengthen the economy of Botswana by diversifying into the new creative industries adding that as products of the Limkokwing University, the graduates have an edge over others.
Kgathi commended the bold step taken by the university to introduce special education unit for people living with disabilities. “These people constitute a special segment in the society later and they need our attention,” said Kgathi.
To date 7 464 students have graduated from Limkokwing University of creative technology.
