Growing up, we were told mythical stories of Ian. We were told that Ian could turn himself into a fly. Let me be very open and honest with you, I for one NEVER BELIEVED, such fairytales. Those who grew up with me in the small mining town of Selibe Phikwe will tell you, I actually used to get so gatvol to the extent of being chased away from the Scout Camp as a young “Lephiritshwana.” I remember Cde Moeti Monhwasa was also a “Lephiritshwana then. Our elder brothers the likes of Bra Taa Mmolawa, Bra Mchidza, Socrates “Daa Baby” Soccy Mmolawa and many other guys including the late Melvin Tau Mackenzie they too can tell you how I used to hate such lies about Ian.
Advocate Sydney Tshepiso Pilane once said, “We have a monumental ego for President” (see Sunday Standard May 29, 2011). Revisiting Tshepiso’s opinion, one can easily conclude that we indeed had a monumental ego for a coward ex-President, now fugitive. About a two years ago, social media commentators went abuzz with the notion that the Bangwato Kgosi Kgolo is in a state of madness – hallucination–and possibly could be high on something much more toxic than Matekwane.
