Inflation eases to 3.0% in May

The national annual inflation rate decreased slightly to 3.0 percent in May 2024, down from 3.1 percent in April 2024, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released by Statistics Botswana. 

The primary contributors to the annual inflation rate in May were Miscellaneous Goods & Services, Transport, and Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages. Miscellaneous Goods & Services accounted for the largest share, contributing 0.8 percentage points to the overall inflation rate. This was followed by Transport, which contributed 0.7 percentage points, and Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages, which added 0.6 percentage points.
