Township Rollers is in for a tough season.
Rivals are gearing up to topple Popa off their title as the Premier League winners.
After the appointment of head coach Thomas Trucha of Popa, Gaborone United, and Orapa United noted that the 2019/20 season will be a walk in the park for them. The Czech Republic coach has an unpleasant relationship with Orapa United after signing a two year contract with them in the 2018/19 season which only ended in less than three months.
Rivalry between the Ostriches and Mapalastina seems to be growing per season as speculations say when Trucha was appointed at Orapa United, he did not want Mogomoste ‘Teenage’ Mopote as his assistant and rather opted for Zacharia Mudzadzi who also was signed as his assistant coach at popa.
According to an anonymous source, during his days at Orapa United, the Czech coach had brought in divisions to the team highlighting that he took the team at position one but in 3months the team had dropped to position five.
“If Trucha works for rollers its fine but the guy is complicated and I personally do not see him last even 2 months with Mapalastina,” a source said.
2019/20 will be a season of power between coaches. Mudzadzi was a Mochudi Center Chiefs legend who was Madinda Ndlovu’s assistant during his tactical reign at the helm of Gaborone giants. Madinda Ndlovu is currently heading Gaborone United after the departure of Philemon Makgwenkgwe. The three teams seem to be intertwining coaches.
Boitumelo Nsunga of Gaborone United, noted that they do not care much about rollers and who they pick as their coach but they only care about bring popa down. Highlighting that they are coming to compete and that they will not let any team take them for granted despite who is coaching them.
“2019/20 season will be far much better and interesting than the previous season, as a manger my aim is to bet rollers and bring it down,” Nsunga said
As they stand and start the season between Madinda Ndlovu, Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote, Thomas Trucha ,Zacharia Mdzadzi and the new kid in the block Miguel Da Costa of Jwaneng Galaxy along with their teams only one will emerge victories and win the title.
