Promoters of Itsose Business Competition are expected to wrap up their campaign fanfare, aimed at getting more entrants by staging both outdoor and indoor activities in Francistown in the next two weeks.
The competition, launched by First National Bank of Botswana (FNBB), in partnership with the Local Enterprise Authority, the University of Botswana and the Sunday Standard in November last year, is expected to close on February 28, this year.
Itsose Business Competition is designed to fast track the start up and growth of businesses owned by Botswana citizens aged 18 years and above and to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst Batswana.
The Itsose team embarked on mall activations in Gaborone (Riverwalk) where enthusiastic entrepreneurs were informed about the competition. This was followed by a seminar at the University of Botswana where members of the public were further versed on “how to fill in” the entry forms.
The team also traveled to Lobatse on January 31 and Palapye this Saturday. The final leg of their tour will be in Francistown on 21st February at the Galo, Nswazi and Nzano malls between 0900hrs and 1300hrs.
The mall activations will be followed by a seminar at the Francistown Civic Centre.
Talk shows are also held on Yarona Fm at 0840hrs on Tuesdays and RB2 at 1245hrs on Wednesdays.
The competition ends on February 28th 2009, thereafter 100 finalists will be selected.
The finalists will then receive training and assistance for them to submit business plans which will be judged to select the eventual 10 winners. The winners will receive a P10, 000 cash prize, laptops, cellphones, mentorship, funding for their businesses as well as publicity and exposure.
To date, over 15,000 entry forms have been collected from all the distribution points which shows a high interest in the competition by the public.
Entry forms can be collected from FNB and LEA branches, Sunday Standard and the University of Botswana OR downloaded from www.fnbbotswana.co.bw.
Please remember, the closing date is February 28th, 2009.
