Justice Tshosa appears in court to hear amended charges against him

Lobatse High Court Judge, Onkemetse Tshosa, on Friday had his amended charges read to him in Court before Southern Regional Magistrate, Barnabas Nyamazabo.

The charges are as follows: That on the 22 of May 2010, along Molepolole/Gaborone road near Dog Training Center, he drove a motor vehicle Toyota Hilux when unfit to do so though drinks or drugs and, in consequence, collided with a Toyota Corolla, then driven by Goitseone Ditogo.

On Count Two, it is alleged that he had on the same occasion driven the Toyota Hilux in a manner which was dangerous to other persons, having regard to all circumstances and in consequence collided with a Toyota Corolla, which was driven by Ditogo.

Count Three said that he had, without reasonable excuse, failed to provide a specimen of breath when required to do so by a police officer and, finally, Count Four said that he had assaulted a police officer, Constable Moses Ndlovu, a member of Botswana Police Service, in the due execution of his duty.

After charges were read to him, his lawyer, Batlhalefi Moeletsi, submitted that his client should not be asked to plead as that may close doors to other actions that he might want to take.
Magistrate Nyamazabo acceded to the submission and the date for the next mention was scheduled for 18 November.
