Kgafela’s sister convicted of drunken driving

The Extension 2 Magistrate Court on Thursday convicted Kgosi Kgafela’s elder sister, Seingwaeng Kgafela, on two counts of drunken driving, after she pled guilty to drunken driving and to failure to provide breath specimen.

This development came after state prosecutor, Kabelo Nkwe, disclosed to the court that Kgafela had refused to cooperate with the police when she was interrogated at Tlokweng Police Station – leading to her failure to test for alcohol.

He further told the court that Kgafela was driving a Mercedes Benz car while unfit to drive to which Kgafela agreed and pleaded guilty.

During her first appearance, his attorney and also younger brother, Mmusi Kgafela, asked the court for the plea to be reserved to allow them to conduct their own investigations on the matter.

Magistrate Rebaone Mmereki will pass sentence on the 30th April 2013.

According to the charge sheet on Count 1, Seingwaeng Kgafela is charged with failure to provide a breath specimen and on count 2, she was charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst under the influence on the 06th January 2013 at Tlokweng.
