Investigations by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) have revealed that former President and ex-Botswana Defence Force (BDF) commander Ian Khama may have illegally transferred firearms to himself during his time at the helm of the army.
According to details compiled by DCEC, a total of 29 firearms are currently registered under Khama’s name. The corruption busting agency suspects that many of the weapons may have been acquired irregularly and possibly as part of a broader pattern of questionable procurement practices during his tenure as commander of the BDF.
