The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) has joined the World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME) as a permanent member.
The move was triggered by the fact that through WASME, LEA will have a strategic partner in growing the SMME sector in Botswana and in addressing issue of SMME sector development.
LEA will benefit from interacting with top specialists and experts and learning from experiences and “best practices” adopted by similar institutions/agencies in other countries.
Further to this, LEA will have access to latest information on markets, trade opportunities, technologies, investment opportunities and documents, research papers and studies on SME development related issues from all parts of the world.
Speaking on the newly attained membership, LEA Director of Corporate and Stakeholder Communications, Bokete Mokgosi, said, “This is yet another significant milestone in the development of LEA. We are delighted to have attained this membership as it allows us to tap into a vast network of SMME professionals, bodies, resources and experiences to assist us in our quest to developing a sustainable SMME sector in Botswana.”
WASME Executive Director, Mr. Sunil D Sharma, and Secretary General Mr. Gyan Prakash Agarwal, paid a courtesy visit to LEA during the 2011 Botswana SMME Conference and Fair.
