Man arrested in the stabbing to death of police officer

The Botswana Police Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Mbulawa, has confirmed that they had arrested 39-year-old Tsoanyane man, Busu Tshiting, in connection with the alleged murder of a police officer early this month.

Mbulawa said that Tshiting has already appeared in before a Jwaneng Magistrate, charged with the murder of the police officer who has since been buried in his home village of Serowe.

Other reports say that the deceased was stabbed with a knife whilst outside the house they were staying in.

Mbulawa declined to give more information on the matter, saying that he could not do so as the case is before Court. ”We cannot give any further information on the issue as it is before the Court,” he said.

In the past, another police officer was shot and killed by a Lesotho national, Lehlohonolo Kobedi, as police officers were trying to arrest him for attempted robbery in Palapye. Kobedi was charged with murder, found guilty of the charges, appealed to the Court of Appeal lost appeal and was hanged.
