The Manual Workers Union is preparing to take the government to court over its decision to establish a constitutional court without broad national consultation. This was revealed by the union’s deputy chief executive officer, Robert Rabasimane, during the 44th Delegates Conference 2025 and the organisation’s 60th anniversary celebration.
Rabasimane, who is also a lawyer, told delegates that the new administration’s plans to push ahead with the formation of a constitutional court contradict the provisions of the Constitution. He said the constitution was explicit that Batswana must be consulted before such a fundamental change is undertaken.
