Merry-making at Indaba Lodge

When one thinks of reviewing a hotel, they think of the oft-used generic formula of coming in for a meal and drinks.

Marketing executive for the Indaba Lodge, Michelle Seretse, however put a completely new spin on things and slotted different reviewers to cover different sections of the hotel.

As luck would have it, I got the gym slot. The whole time prior to the day of my review, I brought up excuses trying to weasel my way out of the prescribed time hoping that I would be slotted to the poolside for sundowners.

Michelle did not budge. This patient bubbly young lady agreed to every single time change I came up with until I gave up and succumbed to the much dreaded gym session.

To say the experience was life changing would be melodramatic for until I walked into the Indaba lodge gym room, the treadmill to me was what the boogie man was to young children.

Michelle graciously walked me through all the machines. No points for guessing that the stationary bike was my favorite.

I tried all of them but I had to draw the line at the miniature trampoline. I was not about to throw my weight on something so tiny and suffer the embarrassment of falling flat on my face.

Though I barely broke a single bead of sweat, Michelle insisted that I make use of the bathroom facilities of which I complied. Their body wash certainly left a lasting impression as the aroma was amazing as was the lotion.

Back in the room, Michelle switched on the television and we made our selves comfortable and it took me back 20 years to my first slumber party (yes I am that old).

The lodge boasts 16 DSTV channels, bedtime candy and a mini bar as per each customer’s request and specification.

We rounded the tour up by checking out the Ice Bar for some Rock Shandy. It was lunch time so we decided to take it easy.

Now the Ice Bar is a bar with ice on the counter so there is no way for one’s beverage to get hot.
Michelle explained that the counter doubles as a salad and cold cuts counter for their buffets at meal times.

The lodge itself is a very calm place with very little action and does not have the conventional conference room facilities.

It is strictly by booking but if you are lucky there might be rooms for walk ins. The location however is not too appealing since it is located between the Riverwalk mall and Fairgrounds Park thus not offering much of a view.

This is compensated by the beautiful interior and the amazing amenities so checking it out is a definite must.
