Ministry of Education allegedly deploys Nomsa Zuze

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development is said to have fired or deployed its spin-doctor, Nomsa Zuze, following a long standing dispute between the Public Relations Officer and her superiors, who allege that she had been sympathising with teachers’ trade unions during the public service industrial strike.

It is reported that during the industrial strike, Zuze differed with the management on how the ministry and the teachers could resolve their disputes.

Sources say that Zuze wanted the ministry to engage teachers’ unions during the strike but the ministry viewed it differently, adding that bad blood between her and her superiors came to a head during the meeting that was held in Mmadinare a few months ago at which the Ministry is said to have decided to do away with her.

Reports say that Zuze has been deployed to non formal education and is said to be contesting the deployment.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Macheng Macheng, denied that the Ministry had fired Zuze.

“What I am sure of is that she is still with the Ministry but if she has been deployed that is an internal matter between the employer and the employee,” he said.

When contacted for comment on Monday, Zuze referred the paper to her principals.
“This is an issue between the employer and the employee,” she said.
