Miracle money my foot!

For some of us who are still struggling to make sense out of Biblical teachings, our conviction gets diminished by all these uninspiring and ridiculous statements that are made by some of these so-called men of God. Look, you can come and tell me that you have been healed by prayer or you have been blessed with a job and chances are, I will just say “good for you”. I will never argue with you. However, if you come and tell me that you have received, or that I can receive some miracle money in my bank account, be assured I will reward you with a hot slap across the face. I will be punishing you for two reasons. Firstly, you will be deserving of that kaffir clap so as to wake you from insanity but most importantly, slapping you across the face will send a clear message that I hate to be taken for a fool. I mean really, what on earth is miracle money?

Get me right though, I have no problem with Christianity. In fact I have no problem with any religion whatsoever. The only problem I have is with those people who want to use their religions to mislead desperate people. I really have a problem with conmen. I hate fraudsters because in most cases they target the vulnerable, ignorant and gullible members of the society. They cash in on people’s desperate situations. How sad that many people fall prey to these lions donned in sheep skin. It is so worrying that the church has now become a business enterprise. While many of us initially thought the proliferation of churches in the country signaled the mass repentance and spiritual growth of our nation, it becomes hurtful to now realize this is just another business boom. When these churches, with exotic names, started to mushroom from all corners in our neighborhoods, we fooled ourselves into believing there was high demand for places of worship and little did we know it was just a scramble for attention and wealth by these conmen who claim to have direct contact with the powers above.

I still fail to understand why Batswana tend to believe God has forsaken their country and only has His eyes fixated on foreign lands and churches like SCOAN in Nigeria. Batswana seem to believe their prayers can only reach God when they are in Nigeria and only through Prophet Joshua. I am not even dismissing TB Joshua’s alleged closeness with God. I am just trying to understand why it would seem Batswana believe the only way to God is through TB Joshua. Are we saying Christianity has been so revolutionized or has evolved so much that our traditional, conventional, or is it congregational churches that have always been reliably available to us have now lost touch with God? We used to look to the church for spiritual healing. We used to look to the pastors for comfort and counseling. Nations relied on the church to bring harmony and love among the people.

Those days are gone. Nowadays people go to church to search for prosperity and wealth. Nowadays people worship their pastors and not God. It is so disheartening to hear of prophets who brag about their riches which they amass through their pathetically desperate followers who have been brainwashed to believe they have to impoverish themselves through donations to their pastors. What should we make of prophets who promise people that money will be mysteriously credited into their accounts from nowhere? How are we to trust preacher men who encourage their followers to lazy at home and expect miracle money? It boggles the mind how these prophets want us to believe money can just land on our hands so effortlessly like the said manna from heaven. God didn’t create our money and as such I don’t see how God can ‘Western Union’ us any money from heaven. I would understand if someone points to God when miracles happen to animals, people and plants because those are the things that owe their existence to, we are told, God. Each note of money has its unique serial number and until the people at Bank of Botswana tell us that they sent a batch of serial numbers to God, it remains absurd to claim God creates miracle money. I think these Christians have no respect for God. How can they link God to money that didn’t come from Bank of Botswana?

Are they telling us God deals in counterfeit money? These are the people that if indeed hell existed I would assure you that their accommodation is booked and confirmed. Instead of encouraging their followers to work hard, these doomed prophets promise people miracle money. They make business people to believe that the only way to win a tender is when you tithe buckets of money and buy anointing water. They make people believe that it is impossible to work your way up and that you need their prayer to get a promotion. I really never cared that much about these fraudsters because they were foreigners but now I really get worried because local clergymen have joined in the bandwagon. They seem to collude with these foreign conmen to sell and legitimatize their ponzi schemes. There is another prophet in the neighboring Zimbabwe who claims that he has resurrected 29 people from the dead. He fails to tell us if those ghosts were certified dead by a professional doctor or maybe he just resuscitated people who had just fainted from the voodoo that these fake prophets cast on their desperate followers. He also claims to have healed people who suffer from cancer and HIV/AIDS. Our government really needs to do something about these prophets because they are no different from drug dealers.
