The stage is set for the prestigious and glamorous 2012 Miss Universe Botswana grand finale. Finally, beauty meets ambition.
Thirteen of Botswana’s most beautiful and ambitious women will compete for the coveted Miss Universe Botswana title on Sunday, October 14 at GICC.
The finalists will compete in three categories: the swimsuit, the evening gown and interview questions.
The twist to the competition is that two finalists will qualify for the Top 6 via public vote. One finalist will qualify through the on-going voting via the Miss Universe Botswana official Facebook page where the members of the public vote for their favourite finalist by ‘liking’ the photo of the finalist. The contestant with the most Facebook LIKES makes the Top 6.
Another twist is that the members of the public get to vote again via SMS where the contestant with the most SMS votes also makes the Top 6. If a finalist gets the most votes either way, the next contestant with the most SMS/Facebook votes overall qualifies for the Top 6. The finalists with the most votes overall, that is SMS vote plus Facebook vote, not only qualifies for the Top 6, but she also wins Miss Photogenic Universe Botswana.
The winner of the 2012 Miss Universe Botswana competition wins a scholarship to attend college in New York at New York Institute of Technology. She also has the opportunity to test the runways with Ford Models, also in New York.
The Queen’s role in New York, with New York being the business and fashion capital of the world, is to pursue Botswana’s agenda on promoting Botswana as a top tourist and trade investment destination, taking advantage of the Miss Universe platform. She will work closely with the Botswana offices in Washington and New York to activate and effect her campaign of helping to drive Botswana’s ambitions as a developing economy.
Miss Universe Botswana is operated by Mos Syde Worldwide Entertainment Group under license from the Miss Universe Organization in New York.
Miss Universe Botswana’s objectives include women empowerment and branding Botswana through her biggest resources being Botswana’s ambitious women, diamonds, tourism and culture. And through its official charity project of ‘I Am the Change,’ Miss Universe Botswana also aims to inspire positive behaviour change among young Batswana, targeting the issues of Alcohol and Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS at Youth Level.
Every Miss Universe Botswana winner becomes the face of this campaign.
