Motsamai Keyecwe Mpho Tour

In recognition of the contribution of the late veteran politician, Motsamai Keyecwe Mpho, the BCP has introduced in its annual calendar, the Motsamai Mpho Tour. The tour shall be an annual event meant to remember and celebrate the life of Motsamai Mpho. Motsamai Mpho, a champion of African liberation; a fearless fighter against apartheid; a relentless nationalist who fought for Botswana’s independence; a dedicated politician, activist and inspirational leader; a tireless campaigner of democracy, human rights and peace; and a community builder was born in 1921 and departed this earth in 2012. He dedicated his life to improving the welfare of other people. He served politics with honour, humility and grace At the BCP, we regard Motsamai Mpho as a source of inspiration and we pledge to live by his example.

The Motsamai Mpho Tour (2013) commences on the 19th August, 2013. It shall cover Maun and Okavango constituencies in the first leg that shall end on the 24th August. During the tour, the party leadership shall hold general membership meetings, public rallies and distribute fliers that shall honour our departed leader. The Maun Tour shall be led by the Party Vice-President, Batisani Maswibilili and he shall be accompanied by Hon Isaac Mabiletsa (MP for Kgatleng East) and Hon Gilson Saleshando (MP for Selibe-Phikwe West). The Okavango Tour shall be led by the Party Secretary General, Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang accompanied by Hon Gibson Nshimwe (MP for Chobe) and Hon Bagalatia Arone (MP for Okavango). The two teams will also cover Gumare in Ngami.

During the Motsamai Mpho Tour, critical issues that affect the North West which issues have dominated the late Motsamai Mpho’s political agenda shall be emphasized. The issues shall be premised on a recognition that the North Western Part of Botswana is an area rich with natural resources but yet its people are among the poorest in Botswana. The BCP views the North Western Part of Botswana as having great potential that remain untapped.

During the Tour, the following issues about the North West will be raised
ÔÇó Fair and equitable allocation of land
ÔÇó Comprehensive audit of the tourism sector and the involvement of citizen in the sector
ÔÇó Link the tourism product with local manufacturing
ÔÇó Work to eliminate the foot and mouth scourge; and establish easily accessible market for beef industry
ÔÇó Promote meat processing industries
ÔÇó Harness available water resources for human, livestock and commercial arable and horticultural production
ÔÇó Train youth to take advantage of local economic opportunities
ÔÇó Promote mother tongue instruction at lower primary levels as well as promote the development of local languages
ÔÇó Facilitate inter-country trade between the Region and neighbouring Countries
ÔÇó Facilitate better working conditions in cognizant of the distance from families and difficult terrains workers are subjected to.

The Motsamai Mpho Tour will cover Chobe Constituency from the 28th October to the 2nd November, 2013
