My dreams to escape poverty lie in ruins!

I just don’t know what to say. I thought the past few weeks were bad with all the rape allegations. It seems things are set to get worse. In this world, we just cannot win. I mean the poor. The ambition of every poor person is to escape poverty. They want to eat whatever they choose as many times as they wish. They want to drink anytime they want. They want to drive the latest car to visit friends and relatives anytime they want. Poor people who strike it rich like visiting their poor relatives to dole out some cash and food hampers, in a show of kindness. Some see it as showing off but to me its kindness because without the assistance their impoverished relatives would starve.

Children of poor parents want to be rich. Like many of my poor friends I want to be rich. I want to be rich because my parents are poor. Now, if my parents are poor it would not be on for me to also live a life of poverty. If I fail to get rich then chances are my children will also be poor. The poverty cycle will run in the family. There are very few ways of getting rich. If there were lots of ways of getting rich no one would be poor. We are poor because there is only so much so many people can do to get rich. The easiest way is to steal lots of money. All it takes is a daring plan. But a lot of us do not want to try that route. What if we are caught and have to spend the rest of our days in jail? The best method is perfectly legitimate. It is to come up with a brilliant money spinning idea. Most rich people have managed to have that one brainwave that would separate them from their poor relatives and friends for ever. You don’t have to be necessarily educated to get rich. Lots of educated people are not rich. They just manage.

In fact, looking at all my educated friends who are poor, I tend to think it is more of the uneducated people who strike that gold mine. With education, we calculate too much. We look at risk factors and decide we cannot take the plunge. In other words, educated people are cowards and that is why most of them will never be rich. Getting paid a lot of money does not mean one is rich unless they quit their job and invest their money in something that will grow it. Worried at my growing poverty, I have been wondering what to do. Just how can I lay my hands on a pile of money that would completely transform my life? Having acquired some education, I know it will never make me rich. I don’t want to do crime. Simply put, I am unable to come up with a money spinning brainwave. That said, I have concluded there is only one way to get into the money. I have been working on it for some time. So far, I have not been having much luck. But I have been battling away because perseverance is so vital. The reason I haven’t given up is because of my role models. It is because of blokes I see around who worked hard and ended up in the money.

They did so well they became my instant heroes. Some chaps, poor for that matter, would make snide remarks about them. But I am not into that. My bottom line is money. As far as I could see, the blokes I admired were in the money. As for the petty talk from impoverished blokes jealous of my heroes, I cared not to listen. That is why I have been working hard. But with the latest revelations in the newspapers, I don’t know if I should just quit and resign myself to a life of poverty. You see, in recent times we have seen a few blokes getting hitched to girls from rich families. If you marry right, and into a rich family, naturally you become part of the wealth.

Chances are, if you behave and stick around long enough for the wife’s parents to die, then you and the missus inherit the wealth. As a result of this observation, I have been trying to hook up with a girl from one of the rich families. It has been hard going. I have tried everything. It is not fair that with so much hard work I have not succeeded. It is also unfair because I am not the choosy type. I don’t care.

Whether the girl is ugly or pretty is immaterial to me. What matters is the parents’ bank balance. The goal is to marry into a rich family. The latest reports that some boys who married into rich families are being divorced left me reeling. I mean, these are blokes I admired. These are blokes who inspired me to work hard to land a rich girl, ugly or pretty. There are all sorts of rumours swirling around. I don’t know what to believe. Perhaps I should acquaint myself with the record of court proceedings. But any which way we look at it, the reports spell doom for a lot of poor, but ambitious chaps like me.

Like I say, I always saw a rich girl as my passport out of poverty. I didn’t know the status of the newly divorced blokes before they married the rich girls. Anyway, the effect of the divorces is that rich girls will be very careful. Their rich parents will demand to know who their daughter is dating. The moment they get the information they will hire private detectives to do a thorough background check to see if the new boyfriend’s parents are rich. Now where does that leave some of us? The background check will reveal poverty and rude, alcoholic uncles who cannot eat with a knife and fork. The girl will then be told to look elsewhere. It is a bad time for us poor blokes I tell you.

I foresee a situation where the rich girls will only socialise with boys from rich families. They will soon have private clubs where the entry requirement would be daddy’s platinum credit card and mummy’s sports car. In fact, I foresee I situation where the rich girls will be encouraged by their parents to look outside the country for potential husbands. My route out of poverty is being tightly shut. I don’t know what those blokes did to get divorced. But whatever it is they did, my dreams are now shattered. The rich girls will never ever consider impoverished chaps from poor families. That means I am staring at a lifetime of poverty. Guys, you have let me down. Whatever it is you did, my dreams to escape poverty lie in ruins!
