Today marks almost a year for me as a BCP member.
My stay at BCP has been a revelation about the realities of opposition politics in our country, and the inadequacies of our democracy. I have experienced firsthand how tough and difficult the terrain that is opposition politics in Botswana is. I have observed how financially draining and frustrating it is to do the business of opposition parties.
I have seen some of my friends who are in business, people who were quick to sponsor me whilst still at the BDP, run for cover when approached. Even though most of them complain of the calamity that has become BDP, they believe assisting an opposition member will jeopardize their chances of doing business. They are scared that big brother might be watching.
I have witnessed how the opposition is stuffed of public media. I have watched with dismay how the media and a section of our populace chastise the opposition. Headlines like ‘the opposition cannot put up an organized campaign’ are common. We simply forget that campaign machinery is oiled by money. For me this was a political culture shock and thanks God I adjusted quickly. ┬áI am having a splendid time in the opposition ranks.
I enjoy every moment of the new found freedom to debate issues that I have found. I am content with the contribution I am making, both inside and outside the National Assembly of jealously protecting the tenets of our democracy and the aspirations of my constituents. I will not sell my soul for a penny at the expense of what I stand for as a politician and a representative of my constituency. I will at all times continue to foster for enhancing our democracy, because without it we will be just another statistics, another  African failure. I have grown to appreciate the courage of our opposition politicians.
Day in and day out they use their personal resources to finance our democracy that we so much cherish. Our so called democracy, that we so much boast about and use to get international accolades as a government will crumble if it was not for the selfless deeds of these unsung compatriots. It is unfortunate that even those who never spend a dime to finance this democracy feel they are more patriotic than these foot soldiers and heroes of our democracy.
Opposition politicians remain impoverished by sponsoring our democracy for the love of their country. For them every thebe spend is a thebe denied their families and not for gain.
In spite of the hardship that is our opposition politics I am inspired to soldier on. I left the BDP because I had irreconcilable and incompatible differences with the direction that the current administration was leading this country. The differences still remains the same. I felt then and I still maintain now that Khama administration is taking this country in a downward trend. With the passing of time I feel exonerated. My opinion is that we as a nation are worse off than we were before the inauguration of this administration.
Put aside the recession, even in areas where we still employ the same resources or more than before we are crumbling, a case in point being education and health. I need somebody who can put a finger on one aspect of our economy that is efficiently functioning, be it BMC and the beef industry, BDC, electricity, water, education, land, labour relations so forth, everything is a mess. We are witnessing a crisis unfolding right before us. A nation that uplifted the lives of many through education has now turned the education system into a factory of future destitute. A national vision 2016 that was pregnant with the aspiration of an ambitious Nation have miscarried under the midwifery of the Khama administration, it has now became a by the way document. 
I get annoyed by persistent rumours peddled by the BDP propaganda in my constituency that I am returning back to the BDP. I have no intention of being an accomplice in the destruction of our country. I am proud to be part of a team that is concerned about the future of our nation. In that respect we shall be launching the BCP in Kanye on the 27 April 2013. I have resolved to be the touch bearer of the BCP message and campaigns in Kanye. If it pleases the party and its members I will present myself to contest the parliamentary seat of Kanye North in the 2014 elections. I hope this put to rest speculations and allegations that the BCP has convinced me to relocate to Gaborone. With this launch of the 27th April the battle lines for 2014 elections are drawn and God on our side we shall overcome.
