Nedbank Golf Challenge attracts big names

As Sun City gears up for its 29th annual Nedbank Golf Challenge from December 3 to December 6, the greens will be greener in more ways than one, thanks to the event having been environmentally certified by the Heritage Environmental Management Company.

To ensure the event is environmentally friendly, the organisers have made sure there is sufficient signage and awareness material around the initiative, as well as waste separation facilities and a reduced use of non-biodegradable packaging, crockery and cutlery.

“The Nedbank Golf Challenge is a prestigious event, and being involved at this level with the organisers gives the concept of environmentally responsible sporting events a major boost,” said Greg McManus, Managing Director of Heritage Environmental Management Company.

With US$ 1.2 million earmarked for the winner of the Challenge, and a total award payout of over US$ 4 million ensured, Africa’s most scintillating major is a must-attend on the sporting calendar.

This year’s 12-man line-up includes Erik Stenson, Ross Fisher, Rory McIlroy, Retief Goosen, Angel Cabrera, Hunter Mahan, Robert Allenby, Luke Donald, Nick Watney, Robert Karlsson, Richard Sterne and Tim Clark.
