A company that was removed from the CIPA register in 2008 and another that recently made a donation to the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) have been appointed by government to provide the controversial development manager services.
Some of the additional companies which have been appointed to provide the service do not appear on search conducted through CIPA online register. This comes amid concerns that the Development Manager model contravene the Public Procurement Act.
Responding to Sunday Standard queries, the Ministry of Transport and Public Works confirmed that companies appointed as development managers are Bigen Africa Services, Devmco Group (Devcom Group Botswana), HSNV Mining, Hatch, Bothakga Burrow Botswana, K-Hill Consortium, Nama consulting Engineers/Knight Piesold JV, Okavango Africa Consortium, Pro-Serve Group, Zutari Botswana. Sunday Standard recently reported how a P700 000.00 donation to the BDP has set tongues wagging. The company was a few years ago the subject of a parliamentary query that the contractor was among a select few that were winning a lot of government tenders to the disadvantage of other competitors.
