Honourable Editor please allow my Muslim ink to trickle into your paper, and offer my unsolicited advice to Tshwaragano Mmereki for his emotional outbursts concerning the ‘graf?ti artist. I am NOT surprised because every time Islam is mentioned, most people prefer to take cover behind their centuries old veil of fear and misunderstanding. To me, the police don’t need to waste taxpayer’s money chasing after the bigot who did that. It is really worthless. I’m sure repainting the wall will be far easier. Rev Moruakgomo is a true leader and he did not let his emotions lead his head, which is why he wrote that letter condemning the ‘art’. For that I congratulate him for such a digni? ed stance. Without any little shred of doubt, I am almost certain the ‘graf?ti artist’ is a Christian. Because the words on the wall attack the Muslim creed of ‘No one deserves to be worshipped, except God, without any partners, and Muhammad is HIS [GOD] Messenger and Final Prophet.
Clearly, these words are meant to provoke the Muslims. That is why they were written on the wall of a mosque, otherwise they could have sprayed any other wall in the city. Coincidence or intention? I would leave that to your speculation. Tell these ‘people’ means the Muslims, the owners of the wall.
Maybe your hero was running out of spray, because we don’t know how many walls in the city have fallen victim to his mischievous ? ngers. Personally, I will never apologize for the Boko Haram murderers. Islam commands love, mercy and peace. Terror, on the other hand, is the opposite of religion; it is cruel, merciless and demands bloodshed and misery. The name or the identity of the triggerman is not important. If he can kill innocent people without blinking an eye, then he is a nonbeliever, not a believer. He is a murderer with no fear of Allah, whose main ambition is to shed blood and to cause harm. For this reason, \”Islamic terror\” is an erroneous concept, which contradicts the message of Islam. The religion of Islam can by no means countenance terrorism. On the contrary, terror (i.e. murder of innocent people) in Islam is a great sin, and Muslims are responsible for preventing these acts and bringing peace and justice to the world. When I read your opinions, I never thought you will boldly claim that Botswana is a Christian land. Really? Anyone can be Christian without the heart being attached to God. Where are your majority values to steer Batswana from vice and feed them virtue? Where are your weapons against HIV/AIDS, is it ARV worth a billion pula or majority Christian values, of no fornication before matrimony? Who is getting 15 000 new HIV infections in Botswana annually, is it Muslims? How many Batswana have died from chastity, is loyalty to spouses or faith a wrong thing to do? How much time and money should our poor government spend on self imposed wrongs of our Christian majority society? Is French or Arabic the best language to use for behavior change? Botswana is big mass grave? Did the Muslims cry foul when the alcohol levy was introduced? No, it’s the Christians who are \’leaders\’ in the society but they cannot guide the nation away from decadence and moral breakdown. You have already betrayed yourselves, which is why the government will never take you seriously. Revert to real Christian ways, and you will get the respect that you are so hungry for. If Christians are the majority then their voice and predilection should be re?ected in the way things are done. In other words, things must be done on the basis of what matters biblically, not the popular issues of the day. You failed to address AIDS/ HIV and other ills, and you are Christians. Modern science has shown us through the works of microbiologists during the last two centuries that there are certain bacteria, microbes, and viruses that are only transmitted through having sex in a perverted way like multiple relationships between men and women, sex between men and men (sodomy), and between women and women (lesbianism). The more such forms of perversion become rampant, the more plagues and diseases hit the society since these microbes become resistant to treatment. Moreover, the human body will fail to combat them due to its weak immunity and the change of the properties of such organisms. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) tells us about a social law that will inevitably happen when certain things occur.
The beginning is the spread of prohibited sexual relations including adultery and homosexuality in the society. When such relations become normal and accepted, this will lead to a state of almost common consent concerning them. This law has taken effect in many societies where people have accepted adultery and homosexuality and even propagated them. In his book Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Dr. Scho? eld wrote that permissiveness has become the reaction of society in the face of all sexual practices. People are no longer ashamed of adultery, homosexuality, or any other sexual perversion. What adds insult to injury is that the mass media has inculcated in the minds of people that young men and women should not remain chaste. Chastity has become a shame in the ‘modern’ societies. Sexual permissiveness is propagated and supported everywhere in the media.
For us Muslims, numbers are really useless. Allah wants to have few genuine Muslims across the planet, instead of millions of insincere idiots masquerading as believers. In fact we will always remain in the minority until the end of the world. So over numbering you is in NOT in our thoughts.
As for halaal, you cannot dictate to Muslims to sell haram in their businesses. It will be a violation of their right to live their Islam the way they should, and that does not include selling murdered animals. Halaal is good for us, but I feel sorry when it becomes a ?nancial burden to non Muslims. I really understand you on this one. Botswana Muslim Association is not doing much about it; let them sort their halaal mess they have created. I don’t like to see Islam getting rebuked for something it does not stand for. Finally, you really don’t deserve an apology for spraying our walls. Or for slaughtering your animals without returning their souls properly to Creator. You don’t deserve it. Besides, we love and know about Jesus more than you do. Islam hosted you Christians in our lands of Andalus, for more than 790 years. We taught you from our institutions, passed scienti?c breakthroughs to you and lived as good neighbours together. You worshipped, lived, and raised communities under the government of our ‘intolerant’ Islam, as Christians. Then Christians took over and destroyed us in less than ? ve years, you even killed almost all of us. What was the crime of the Muslims? Our tolerance and understanding we had for you, so we cannot learn it from you since we taught it to you. Muslims deserve an apology from Christians, and I’m happy that the church elders have already done so. Indeed ‘Christians of this country must be warned against committing any acts of violence against other religions”. Listen to the elders.
