Of course, the vegetable ban is bad economics

The Vice President’s take on the vegetable ban as bad economics could not have been more succinct.   It is a policy that punishes the majority for the benefit of the few. The fact that we had politicians and their elite allies laud protectionism – because that is what the ban amounts to – as a novel and effective tool for our economic prosperity was embarrassing enough. You sometimes wondered what the outside world thought of us, as they heard our leaders make such outlandish economic claims.
