One of the directors, Ms Sefako who is also the 2013 title holder said she “perceives this competition as a milestone for Botswana. And as time goes by l hope we will gain more popularity.”
Despite not having international accolades, Miss Global International has been held for the past 12 years and consists of both commonwealth and non-commonwealth nations. The sole purpose of Miss Global organisation is to equip young ladies with leadership skills.
This year’s pageant also celebrated up and coming young designers and artists. One of the categories was the designer traditional wear which symbolized Botswana’s various cultures ranging from Bakgatla, Babirwa, Bakalanga, Baherero and so on.
Since inception in 2004, only seven countries have won the competition and Botswana is yet to win the title.
