Over 60% of Batswana do not trust IEC

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) suffers one of the biggest crisis of confidence in Africa.

An Afrobarometer survey indicates that six in 10 Batswana citizens (63%) trust the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) “just a little” or “not at all”. The survey comes as Botswana’s major parties prepare for what think-tanks such as Brookings Institution believe will be a competitive general election later this year.
