Police bust stock theft syndicate

Mochudi police recently busted the stock theft syndicate that had been terrorizing the area.

Sergeant Simon Setombeko of Mochudi police station said the syndicate killed the animals in the Kgatleng area and sold them in Gaborone where butcheries are abundant.

Setombeko said the syndicate was uncovered at Pula Butchery in the Maruapula location of Gaborone, where they had sold the meat from three cattle to the manager of the butchery, Kamogelo Basetsana Masuntha.

Masuntha, 20, was on Friday arraigned before Urban Customary Deputy, Khari Moitlobo. She pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned to February 19, 2007 when prosecution is expected to bring witnesses and the accused promising to deliver the letter of legal representation.
