A police officer died last Thursday when a police vehicle that was travelling from Nata carrying three officers and six accused civilians had an accident near Dukwi.
The civilians were scheduled to appear for mention at the Francistown Magistrate Court.
The Station Commander of Dukwi Police Station, Moyontjena Nkhor, confirmed the accident to The Telegraph.
“One Police officer died instantly, the other two were seriously injured and the rest were all referred to Nyangabwe Referral Hospital for medical attention,” he said.
Nkhor said the Police have not yet established what could have caused the accident but were currently carrying out their investigations.
He said that accidents involving police officers are very rare in the area.
