Poloko Masitara to steer Alexander Forbes Botswana ship

Poloko Masitara has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alexander Forbes Botswana.

According to a statement from the Alexander Forbes board, Poloko is a qualified Charted Accountant (CA) with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and has been with Alexander Forbes in a management capacity since 2010. She was an Assistant General Manager responsible for finance in Alexander Forbes Risk Services (Pty) Ltd, a former subsidiary of Alexander Forbes Botswana until January 2012.

She joined Alexander Forbes Financial Services Botswana in 2012 as a Financial Controller responsible for the oversight of fund accounting and Group Company accounting, a role she successfully executed with diligence.

“Poloko is passionate about serving clients with excellence and this is evident in the continued growth of the Botswana business”, reads part of the statement.

Bonga Mokoena, the Chief Executive Officer of Alexander Forbes Emerging Markets and non-executive director of Alexander Forbes Botswana board, says he is confident about the future of the Botswana business and its prospects for future growth under Poloko’s leadership. More especially, that we will continue to improve client outcomes through a more integrated value proposition.

“Alexander Forbes Botswana looks forward to partnering with the trustees of our funds and their members to help them achieve financial well-being throughout their lifetime”, concluded the statment from the compmay.

In mid 2018 the company reported a 5 percent decrease in operating income folloing the government of Botswana’s insources the Public Officers Pension Fund, which constituted a large portion of the business’ operating income.

The company currently operates in five countries across sub-Saharan Africa – Namibia, Botswana, Nigeria, Uganda and Zambia. Alexander Forbes has discontinued the Alexander Forbes Kenyan operations.
